Introduction

So what is Burning Man? Some say it's a assault on all your senses. Others say it is a experiment in alternate social organization. Throw in the harsh elements of the Black Rock Desert and you have yourself a adventure. Think of it as total insanity with 25,000 (or more) of your closest (or soon to be closest) friends. Trying to describe Burning Man can never encompass everything it is, so there is really no point in doing so.

Every year (approximately since 1990 as legend goes) people have been driving, biking, walking and flying from all parts of the world to get themselves to Black Rock City. This usually occurs the week before Labor Day. There will be in the range of 25-29 thousand people arriving during this week for Burning Man 2003.

Since Burning Man 2001 we have been planning what improvements to make to our shade structure, our alternate exterior fabric choices (clothing), food menu, etc. We've been lucky and have been well prepared for whatever comes our way. Our first year was BM 2K and that year it decided to be very stormy & cold. Luckly it did not discourage us from returning in 2001. In 2001 it decided to be warm, super dusty and very windy. So from one extreme to the other it seems.
